Biodegradable cling film

In 2011, in cooperation with the Italian company Novamont, we developed the world’s first biodegradable, compostable cling film, an alternative to the polyethylene or PVC film.

This film was developed to be easy to manage and cut without a saw for improved safety and practicality. One of its features is its high permeability to water vapour which allows the evaporation of condensation, especially when the film is used with warm food or is placed in the fridge.

This film’s biodegradable status does not affect its resistance, elasticity and adherence. In addition to being biodegradable, this film is also certified as compostable pursuant to the European Standard 13432. This way, it should be disposed of along with other household organic waste. This article is an international success, but in Portugal it is a market niche, mostly due to the lack of environmental awareness.
